External Program - 38th session - Universalism and regionalism revisited


EXTERNAL PROGRAM - 38th session « Universalism and regionalism revisited » 
Santiago (Chile)
28 October - 4 November 2011 

The External Programme is aimed at persons having studied international law (young university teachers and young civil servants from the ministry of foreign affairs or other ministries), selected by the Secretary General in the name of the Curatorium on exclusively scientific criteria.

After the Official opening Ceremony on Friday night 28 October 2011, the program itself will start with a so-called "get acquainted weekend" which aim is to "break the ice" between the participants and between the professors and the participants, in order to reach a good and confident atmosphere when the courses start on Monday morning the 31st October.
During this weekend, there is a mixture of touristic visit and lectures in early morning and late evening (i.e. 4 lectures at total). These lectures are devoted tovarious topics that can be treated in one hour of time, including questions asked by the participants.
From Monday 31 October to Friday 4 November, 5 Multi-sessions Lectures-seminars take place. Each of them lasts 50 minutes and an additional lecture is organized on some days dealing with a general topic that can be treated in one hour of time, including questions asked by the participants (like lectures during the "get acquainted weekend")
The closing session will take place on Friday night 4 November 2011, after the last lecture.
Courses and lectures will be delivered in Spanish, exceptionally in English.
PARTICIPANTS
1. 20 (or more) Chilean participants, selected by Chilean Authorities.
2. 15/20 participants from foreign countries of the region, selected by the Hague Academy, from: 
Argentina
Bolivia
Brazil
Colombia
Ecuador
Guyana
Paraguay
Peru
Surinam
Uruguay
Venezuela
